I had a dream last night that I cheated on my boyfriend with someone I had only talked to a handful of times, and each of those times we only exchanged a few short words. In my dream, my boyfriend had left to compete in a golf tournament. I was stuck at my house (which was really the house I have moved out of a few years ago in real life) with only my neighbors to take up my time (I don’t have a job, but I am looking. I’m still in high school, by the way).My neighbors happened to be a guy I had one class with, back in my sophomore year. I’ll call the guy Ivan. Ivan had an older sister (a girl I have no recollection of ever meeting), and a younger brother that they kept locked in a room in their garage (I don’t know what that is about). The older sister, I’ll call her Rita, gave me the impression of being (excuse my language) a bitch. Well, throughout the dream I try to discover why they keep their little brother locked up, but I never found out. Ivan’s mother, whom I had been trying to weasel information out of, ended up threatening me and terrifying me. After she scared me, Ivan came and (apparently) rescued me from his mother. In a rush of relief I jump into Ivan’s arms and start kissing him. Immediately afterward I feel guilty and decide to leave. Rita meets Ivan and I at the door and she finds out that we kissed. Rita and I walk out the front door and my boyfriend is waiting for me out there. I end up confessing to him, feeling overwhelming guilt the whole time. My boyfriend is hurt, but he doesn’t get mad and he immediately forgives me. Then I woke up.
Now for some facts. I am visiting family an hour away from home right now, so I haven’t seen my boyfriend in a few days. That explains his absence in my dream. But that is as far as I have gotten in my attempts to interpret my dream, though. I think the reason I chose to cheat in my dream with Ivan is because Ivan is, in real life, a very intelligent person, and my boyfriend, recently graduated, isn’t exactly the brightest crayon in the box. Could I have cheated with Ivan because I subconsciously wish my boyfriend was a little smarter? I really need help figuring this out!, more
